Hot Rolled Steel
Hot rolled steel is manufactured using a mill process which involves rolling the steel at a high temperature, which is above the steel’s recrystallization temperature. When steel is above the recrystallization temperature, it can be shaped and formed easily, and the steel can be made in much larger sizes. Hot rolled steel is typically cheaper than cold rolled steel since it is often manufactured without any delays in the process, and therefore the reheating of the steel is not required. When the steel cools off it will shrink slightly thus giving less control on the size and shape of the finished product when compared to cold rolled.
Hot Rolled Sheets (HR Sheets)
Hot rolled sheets or HR sheets are steel sheets that are soft enough to bend flat on itself in any direction, without cracking. They are ductile enough for shallow drawing used in a variety of industries in the domestic market.
Hot Rolled Coils (HR Coils)
Hot rolled coils are primarily used for making pipes and have many direct industrial and manufacturing applications, including the construction of tanks, railway cars, bicycle frames, ships, engineering and military equipment and automobile and truck wheel caps, frames and body parts, pipes, LPG cylinders and shuttering plates. They also find application in the construction industry.
